The Atlas Platinum PTC500 center-post tire changer is built for high-volume tire shops handling difficult wheel and tire combinations, especially modern low-profile, run-flat, and light truck setups that demand more control than a standard swing-arm machine. It’s designed around a center-post platform with dual assist arms and an integrated wheel lift, helping technicians manage heavier assemblies safely while reducing physical strain and wheel damage. Note: it requires an external air supply, and delivery must accommodate a 53’ truck.

What separates the PTC500 from lower-tier changers is its dual-mode “Lever/No-Lever System”. In traditional mode, technicians can use a standard tire tool for familiar workflows. In leverless mode, the machine handles mounting and demounting without manual prying, which is especially useful for low-profile tires and expensive alloy wheels where rim protection is critical. The Smart Lock center-post system is another key upgrade — once the wheel is positioned, a simple lever locks it in place immediately, eliminating the need for manual cone threading or more complex pneumatic locking setups. This improves cycle speed while reducing setup variability between operators.

The machine also integrates an external bead-blast system that helps seat difficult beads during inflation, along with an air-operated bead breaker (120–145 PSI external air required) for consistent separation force across stiff sidewalls. A metal mount/demount head with replaceable plastic inserts protects wheel finishes, while the included FRL system, tire tools, lube bucket, brush, and multiple protective inserts support continuous shop operation without constant add-ons. The built-in wheel lift reduces manual handling, making it easier to position heavier assemblies and reducing risk of damage or injury.

This model is best suited for busy tire centers, dealerships, and high-output automotive shops that regularly work on premium wheels, performance tires, and light truck applications, and need faster cycle times with fewer manual steps and improved technician ergonomics.
