The Atlas® TC229 rim-clamp swing-arm tire changer is a compact, shop-ready tire machine designed for homeowners, small repair shops, and ATV or motorcycle service centers that want dependable tire-changing capability with an added inflation assist system. It delivers the same core performance and wheel-handling range as the TC221, but adds a built-in “Beadblaster” system to help seat difficult or stiff-sidewall tires during inflation.
At its core, the TC229 uses a rim-clamp turntable with adjustable jaw positions, allowing technicians to secure a wide range of wheel sizes safely without damaging alloy or steel rims. The jaws can be repositioned along the slide system to fine-tune clamping range, which helps accommodate everything from smaller motorcycle wheels to standard passenger car tires. A metal mount/demount head with replaceable plastic inserts further reduces the risk of rim contact during operation.
The side-mounted air-operated bead breaker (external air supply required) is designed to break even heavily rusted or stubborn tire beads while minimizing stress on the wheel. Once the tire is mounted, the integrated Beadblaster system provides a high-volume air burst that helps seat beads quickly—especially useful for low-profile tires or wheels that struggle to inflate with standard air delivery alone.
Included accessories such as the inflator gauge, lubrication bucket, tire tool, and plastic jaw covers make the machine ready for everyday use after assembly. Motorcycle and ATV adapters are available separately for expanded capability.
The TC229 is best suited for small garages and recreational vehicle shops that want more inflation capability than the TC221 without stepping into heavy-duty commercial equipment. It carries a 1-year parts-only warranty and is designed for users who need a practical, flexible tire changer for mixed-use applications.
