The Atlas® TC229DAA rim-clamp swing arm tire changer is designed for shops and garages that regularly handle modern low-profile, run-flat, and stiff sidewall tires where extra mechanical assistance makes a noticeable difference in day-to-day workflow.
At its core, it uses the same TC229 platform with an electric turntable, air-operated bead breaker, and adjustable rim-clamp jaws that can be repositioned across three settings to fit a wide range of wheel sizes. The built-in beadblaster helps seat difficult tires during inflation, while protective jaw covers and a guarded mount/demount head help reduce the risk of damage to alloy wheels during service. External air supply is required for operation.
What sets the TC229DAA apart is the dual assist arm system. The left and right assist arms act as an extra set of hands during mounting and demounting, applying controlled pressure to stiff sidewalls and helping guide the tire bead over the rim without excessive manual force. One arm includes a pressing block and lifting/pressing disk, while the other integrates a bead roller and additional support disk. In practical use, this reduces operator fatigue and improves control when working with modern tire constructions that are harder to handle with a standard swing-arm machine.
The Atlas TC229DAA Tire Changer is a strong fit for small commercial garages, tire-focused service shops, and ATV or motorcycle dealers that see a steady mix of standard and performance tires. It also works well for serious home users who want commercial-style assistance features without moving into heavy industrial equipment. Motorcycle and ATV adapters are available separately for expanded use.
Like other units in the lineup, it is built for 110V operation, requires external air supply, and includes a 1-year parts-only warranty.
