This model expands on the TC229 platform with a larger turntable and increased working clearance, allowing it to handle oversized passenger wheels, large SUVs, and one-ton truck tires more comfortably. It uses an electric turntable paired with an air-operated bead breaker and rim-clamp jaw system, which can be adjusted across three positions to accommodate a wide range of wheel sizes. The built-in beadblaster helps seat stiff or low-profile tires during inflation, improving efficiency when working with modern tire constructions. External air supply is required.
A key upgrade on the TC289 is the adjustable bead breaker plate, which gives the operator more control when working with difficult or heavily seated beads. This is especially useful in farm environments, commercial tire service, or high-volume shops where wheel conditions vary widely. Protective jaw covers and a metal mount/demount head (with plastic insert options) help reduce the risk of wheel damage during installation and removal.
The Atlas TC289 Tire Changer is best suited for general automotive service departments, medium-sized tire shops, agricultural use, and home users who frequently service larger vehicles.
