The BelAire 438V4 Iron Series combines 5 HP, 18 CFM at 100 PSI and 16 CFM at 175 PSI with a belt-driven two-stage pump and an 80-gallon vertical ASME tank. Its standout feature is the pump’s automotive-style connecting rod bearings and wrist pins, designed for repeated start-stop operation and serviceability. The 460V three-phase motor is intended for shops that already have high-voltage three-phase power, with a factory-installed magnetic starter. Note: the compressor measures approximately 37" × 24" × 72" and weighs 580 lbs, so verify ceiling clearance, access routes and a suitable concrete installation surface before ordering.
The two-stage pump compresses air in two steps, cooling the air between stages before bringing it to its final pressure. An intercooler manages heat between compression stages, while the aftercooler on the discharge side reduces air temperature before the air reaches the tank, allowing more moisture to condense where it can be drained instead of traveling through the shop’s air lines. Solid cast-iron cylinders provide a durable pump structure, while splash lubrication and an oil sight glass make routine oil-level checks straightforward. The start/stop pressure switch shuts the compressor off at cut-out pressure rather than leaving it running unloaded, and the enclosed belt guard keeps the drive components covered during operation.
This compressor is suited to commercial garages, body shops, fabrication facilities and fleet or municipal maintenance bays that already have 460V three-phase service and need substantial air capacity for multiple tools or equipment. It is especially appropriate for demanding shop environments where 175 PSI operating capability and 18 CFM at 100 PSI provide useful air reserves. This is not a single-phase residential-garage model. Have a licensed electrician verify your available 460V three-phase service and determine the required breaker and conductor sizing for the installation. The tank uses a manual drain, so regular condensate removal is part of normal maintenance, and an air dryer must be added separately if your application requires dried compressed air.

Certification, Stated Plainly
The receiver tank is built and stamped to the American pressure-vessel code, with a matching safety relief valve. That certification applies to the vessel—its design, welding and inspection for the stated pressure.
It is not a third-party safety listing for the complete electrical machine, and the two should not be confused. If your insurer, municipality or plant safety policy requires a listed assembly rather than a coded tank, ask us in writing before ordering and we will confirm the available documentation in writing.
Shipping & Delivery
Ships by freight to the lower 48 states, not as a parcel. The machine weighs 580 lbs and stands 72" tall on a pallet. Freight is quoted live at checkout for your delivery address. Residential delivery carries an additional fee, while terminal pickup is an alternative.
Plan unloading before the truck arrives. You will need a forklift, loading dock or other suitable equipment to safely remove the crate.
When it arrives, inspect the shroud, belt guard, gauges and tank with the driver present. Record any damage on the delivery paperwork and photograph the shipment before signing.
Warranty
BelAire covers this unit with a 2-Year factory warranty for both consumer and commercial use, with the full warranty document available on this page.
If a failure occurs, do not disassemble the pump, starter or pressure switch before opening a claim. The manufacturer may need to inspect the affected component in its failed condition. Stop using the compressor, document the problem, and contact us so we can begin the claim process.
