Why a Slow Pump Can Last Longer
The motor turns at 1,750 RPM. It is an easy number to skim past, but operating speed is an important consideration in the service life of a reciprocating compressor.
A slower crankshaft generally means lower piston speed and fewer mechanical cycles for a given amount of operating time. That can reduce mechanical and thermal stress on components such as rings, cylinders and bearings compared with a higher-speed design.
Quincy rates this splash-lubricated cast-iron pump for more than 50,000 hours of pump life, according to the published product information. The relatively low operating speed is one of the design characteristics supporting that long-life rating.
The pump uses a cast-iron cylinder assembly with an aluminum head. Cast iron provides a rigid, durable cylinder structure, while aluminum conducts heat efficiently away from the head area.
This model uses splash lubrication, with the crankshaft assembly distributing oil through the pump during operation. Unlike a pressure-lubricated system, there is no separate oil pump or pressure-fed lubrication circuit to maintain.
The Parts That Help Protect It
Several protective features are built into the compressor, each addressing a different operating risk.
A low-oil cut-off switch shuts the machine down if the oil level falls to an unsafe point, helping prevent operation without adequate lubrication.
A magnetic starter provides motor protection through thermal overload devices. If the motor draws excessive current for long enough to create a damaging condition, the starter can disconnect it from the electrical supply.
An automatic tank drain is also identified in some of the published information for this model. Its purpose is to remove condensate from the receiver, helping limit moisture accumulation and corrosion.
There is an important qualification on that last point: published descriptions of the tank drain differ. Before relying on an automatic drain being factory-fitted, confirm the configuration with us.
Will It Fit?

Plan the installation around service access rather than treating the published dimensions as the complete space requirement. Leave room at the pump end for access to the belt guard, oil sight glass and filter, as well as adequate clearance around the cooling system for proper airflow.
The tank has a 1-inch outlet, providing the connection point for the shop's compressed-air distribution piping.
Electrical supply is the major installation consideration. This configuration is designed for 460V, three-phase service. Verify the available voltage at your electrical panel before ordering; three-phase service is available at multiple voltages, and the compressor must match the supply.
A magnetic starter is included. Quincy does not publish a universal breaker or conductor size for this configuration and directs customers to consult a certified electrician. The correct electrical protection depends on the actual service, conductor length, installation conditions and local code.

The compressor is delivered assembled, with the two-stage cast-iron pump and motor mounted on the horizontal receiver, along with the magnetic starter, mounted air-cooled aftercooler, fin-and-tube intercooler, tank-drain equipment, low-oil cut-off and oil sight glass.
The documentation currently available does not list compressor oil, hose, downstream filtration, regulator, air dryer or isolation valve as included accessories.

Check the Tank Drain Before You Order
Published information about the tank drain is inconsistent. The manufacturer's feature list and specification table both identify an automatic electronic tank drain, while a separate product-data field records the drain as not fitted.
If an automatic drain is important to your installation, ask us to confirm the configuration before your order ships. We will obtain written confirmation from Quincy rather than leave you to discover the discrepancy after delivery.
Certification, Stated Plainly
The specification sheet records ASME, UL and CSA marks for this compressor. It is important to understand what those designations actually cover.
The ASME designation applies to the pressure vessel — the receiver, its design, materials and construction. The electrical markings apply to the relevant motor and control components. None of these designations should be interpreted as certification of compressed-air quality or as approval of the complete installation.
Depending on your jurisdiction and facility requirements, you may also need permits or periodic pressure-vessel inspections. Certification marks do not replace those obligations.
Check the requirements that apply to your site before installation, including any requirements imposed by your local authority, workplace inspector or insurer.
Shipping and Delivery
This compressor ships by freight to addresses within the lower 48 states. Freight is quoted live at checkout based on your delivery address rather than built into the product price.
Before ordering, make sure the destination can safely unload the machine. Depending on the site, that may require a forklift, loading dock or appropriately rated telehandler. If the location cannot accommodate the delivery, terminal pickup is another option.
Residential deliveries are handled differently by freight carriers and carry an additional residential-delivery fee, so make sure the destination type is entered accurately when ordering.
Inspect the shipment before signing the delivery paperwork. Check the pallet, receiver, guards, gauges, fittings and visible surfaces for signs of damage. If you find anything, photograph it and have the damage recorded on the bill of lading while the driver is present.
Warranty
Quincy provides a 1-year factory warranty on this compressor, with the available documentation indicating that coverage can extend to a 3-year “No Bull” warranty when the unit is registered with Quincy and maintained using the applicable Quincy maintenance kits, subject to the manufacturer's warranty terms.
Register the machine promptly after delivery if you intend to rely on the extended coverage.
