The 5 HP, 230V 3-phase compressor combines a vertical 80-gallon receiver with a two-stage cast-iron pump designed for demanding shop environments. Its standout feature is the stainless steel reed valve system with valve bumpers, which limits how far the reeds can flex on each stroke, helping reduce fatigue-related valve wear over time. The pump runs at 942 RPM and produces up to 175 PSI, while the vertical design keeps the footprint to approximately 37" × 24". Note: this model requires 230V 3-phase power, and the electrical supply, circuit, and installation site should be verified before ordering.
The valve system is supported by graphite cylinder and head gaskets, which maintain a consistent seal through the temperature changes associated with two-stage compression. A fin-and-tube intercooler removes heat between the low- and high-pressure stages, while the mounted air-cooled aftercooler cools the compressed air again before it reaches the tank. This helps move moisture out of the air stream and into the receiver, where it can be drained rather than condensing farther downstream in your piping and tools. The magnetic starter includes thermal overload protection, and a spin-on oil filter and sight glass simplify routine maintenance.
This compressor is well suited to busy automotive service shops, fabrication and metalworking operations, and other commercial facilities that put their compressor through frequent cycles. It is also a practical choice for buyers replacing an older compressor who want a design that specifically addresses valve durability and heat management. At approximately 74" tall and 690 lbs dry, it needs a level, properly anchored slab and sufficient overhead clearance for service access.
What a Valve Bumper Does
A reed valve flexes open and closed with every compression cycle. Excessive lift increases bending stress at the point where the reed is clamped, eventually causing fatigue.
A valve bumper limits reed lift, keeping the bending stress within the intended range. Stainless steel reed valves add corrosion resistance in the hot, humid, oil-laden environment inside a compressor.
Graphite cylinder and head gaskets maintain the seal through temperature changes and help keep the valve plate evenly clamped.
Two-Stage Compression & Heat Control
The low-pressure cylinder compresses the air, a high-efficiency fin-and-tube intercooler removes heat, and the high-pressure cylinder completes compression at up to 175 PSI.
A mounted air-cooled aftercooler then cools the discharge before it enters the tank, helping moisture condense in the receiver rather than downstream in the air lines.

Certification, Stated Plainly
The receiver is built to a North American pressure-vessel code and the machine carries a CSA mark. Our supplier record also references a third-party electrical listing, but the information is not clear enough for us to state it as a confirmed certification.
If your insurer, plant safety program, or local inspector requires a specific listing, ask us to verify what appears on the data plate before ordering.
Two Details Worth Confirming
Published information differs on two points:
Lubrication: The manufacturer's feature list describes pressure lubrication with a gerotor positive-displacement oil pump, while the structured specification lists splash lubrication.
Tank drain: The feature list and detailed specifications show an electronic automatic tank drain, while a summary field lists none.
If either specification affects your purchase, ask us to confirm the as-shipped configuration with Quincy before ordering.
Shipping & Delivery
Ships by freight within the lower 48, crated on a skid. Arrange a forklift or loading dock, or choose terminal pickup if you prefer to collect it yourself.
Residential delivery carries an additional fee. Let us know at order time if the delivery address does not have commercial receiving capabilities.
Inspect before signing. Photograph the crate, skid, and equipment, and record any damage on the bill of lading with the driver present. A clean signed receipt can make freight claims difficult.
Warranty
Quincy provides a 1-Year factory warranty for consumer and commercial use, extending to 3-Year “No Bull” coverage when the EWK-4 Maintenance Kit is purchased with the compressor and the unit is registered with the manufacturer. The extended coverage includes on-site service and labor under Quincy's terms.
