The QP MAX 10 HP vertical compressor puts 120 gallons of air storage into a compact 30" × 40" footprint, making it a practical alternative to horizontal receivers that can occupy more than 6 feet of floor space. This two-stage, cast-iron package is rated to 175 PSI, uses a 208V 3-phase motor, and includes a mounted air-cooled aftercooler. At 75" tall, the vertical configuration trades floor space for ceiling clearance, so verify the available height before ordering.
The two-stage pump compresses air in a large and small cylinder with a high-efficiency fin-and-tube intercooler between them. Cooling the air before the second stage improves compression efficiency and reduces heat reaching the valves and other components. After compression, the air-cooled aftercooler lowers discharge temperature before the air enters the receiver, helping moisture condense at the compressor rather than farther downstream in your air lines. The package also includes low-oil shutdown, a spin-on oil filter, oil sight glass, and magnetic starter for motor protection.
This compressor is a strong fit for space-constrained automotive shops, two- and three-bay workshops, and mixed-use facilities with 208V 3-phase service. Its small floor footprint makes it especially useful when a horizontal tank would interfere with bays, workbenches, or walkways. The tradeoff is height and floor loading: the assembled unit is approximately 850 lbs, so plan for a level, suitable slab, anchoring, and access to the tank drain and pump for maintenance. A dryer is not included, and electrical feed, disconnect, anchors, and shop air piping must be provided separately.
The trade you are making by going vertical
Vertical tanks buy floor space and spend ceiling height. This unit stands 75" tall, so measure before you commit: you need that height plus room above for the safety valve and for anyone who has to reach the top of the pump. Vertical machines are also less forgiving about the floor. A tall, top-heavy assembly wants a genuinely level slab and, in most installations, anchoring. If your floor slopes to a drain — which many shop floors do — take that into account when you pick the spot, and plan on shimming and anchoring rather than simply standing it in a corner.
The other consequence is drainage. Condensate collects in the bottom of the tank, and on a vertical receiver that bottom is at floor level rather than at a convenient height. Give yourself real access to the drain before you position the machine, because a drain you cannot reach is a drain that does not get used, and water sitting in a receiver is what eventually ends its life.
Will It Fit?
-
Floor space: 30" W × 40" D. Leave clearance for access to the drain, oil fill and service points.
-
Height: 75". Check low ceilings, mezzanines, door tracks, ductwork and overhead lighting before delivery.
-
Weight: 850 lbs on a compact footprint, so verify the slab can support the load.
-
Power: 208V, 3-phase. Quincy lists 32.2 A for this build. No breaker size is published; a certified electrician should size the circuit based on conductor length and local code.
-
Air connection: 3/4" tank outlet.
Levelling, anchoring, electrical feed, disconnect and shop piping are the customer's responsibility. Electrical work should be performed by a licensed electrician.
Two-Stage Compression & Cooling
The pump compresses air in two stages with a high-efficiency fin-and-tube intercooler between them. Cooling the air before the second stage helps reduce compression heat and improves the second-stage process.
Cast-iron cylinders provide a durable pump structure, while aluminum heads help dissipate heat. A mounted air-cooled aftercooler reduces discharge temperature before air enters the receiver, helping remove moisture before it reaches the shop piping.
The system is rated to 175 PSI.
Perfect For
-
Space-constrained shops needing a 120-gallon receiver.
-
Two- and three-bay workshops with 208V three-phase power.
-
Mixed-use buildings where a vertical footprint is easier to accommodate.
-
Shops upgrading storage without giving up additional floor space.
Three-phase power is required. If your building has only single-phase service, this model is not the right fit.

Certification, Honestly
Our records list the receiver to the ASME pressure-vessel code and list CSA among the unit's marks. ASME certification applies to the pressure vessel itself—its design, materials and construction—not the complete assembly.
If your insurer, fleet policy or local authority requires a specific listing for fixed shop equipment, verify that requirement against the data plate before ordering.
Before You Order — Please Confirm
-
Pump lubrication: Published details differ. The package name and feature list describe a fully pressure-lubricated pump, while a specification field lists splash lubrication. Ask us to confirm the factory configuration.
-
Automatic tank drain: Published information differs on whether an electronic automatic drain is fitted. Confirm this if it is important to your installation.
-
Air delivery & pump speed: No verified CFM or pump-speed figures are published for this specific build. Because related voltage models are documented differently, we will not transfer their ratings to this unit. Contact us for the factory specifications.
Shipping & Delivery
Ships by freight within the lower 48 states, with shipping calculated at checkout. At 850 lbs and over six feet tall on its pallet, plan for a forklift or loading dock, or choose terminal pickup.
Residential deliveries incur a residential fee where applicable.
Inspect the compressor before signing. Check the receiver, feet, guards, gauges and cooler, photograph any damage, and record it on the bill of lading while the driver is present.
Warranty
A 1-year factory warranty applies, with extension to a 3-year “No Bull” warranty subject to Quincy's published warranty terms and conditions.
If a problem occurs, contact us before opening or disassembling the pump. A dismantled unit can make diagnosis and warranty evaluation difficult.
